Feudal Future Podcast — Episode 4

Environmental Destruction & Dogma: How California’s Climate Policies Hurt the Middle Class

In this episode of Feudal Future, hosts, Joel Kotkin and Marshall Toplansky interview Jennifer Hernandez, a partner with Holland & Knight Law Firm in its California offices. Her firm is one of the most prominent in the world of environmental regulations, and she herself is in the midst of lawsuits pertaining to California environmental law.

Joel and Marshall raise the topic of feudalism in California, positing that they believe policy adopted in the state has had a negative effect on middle class jobs and on housing. Jennifer agrees and clarifies that the present moment represents a new low, as environmentalist dogma has led to open attack on people and the things that they need to live safely and commute to work and school. She explains the conclusion driving California legislation that the climate crisis demands less people, the Orwellian character of the day, the gap in experience between different social groups, and her own background that produced in her an interest in environmental policy.
