Human City Book Event

March 26, 2016 UTC-8

With more people living in cities than ever before, it’s worth reconsidering what we want urban life to be. In his eighth book, Kotkin, a presidential fellow in urban futures at Chapman University as well as the executive director at the Center of Opportunity Urbanism and the executive editor of NewGeography.com, argues that cities could be more livable if they borrowed a few ideas from suburbs. Using small communities as the model, Kotkin makes the case for flexible, decentralized urban spaces, family-focused and environmentally sound, rather than the tightly-packed, dense urban cores of many megacities.
