City Club and Cleveland State University Luncheon

April 22, 2015 UTC-8

The term “Rust Belt” is used to describe once thriving industrial areas in the Great Lakes states that are now characterized by economic decline, population loss and urban decay.  In the last several years, however, many of these areas (including Cleveland) are being revitalized due, in part, to increases in advance manufacturing jobs and STEM employment and an influx of young, college-educated individuals interested in low-cost, urban living.

Can these areas continue on the path to resurgence? What do strong, vibrant Rust Belt cities mean for the rest of the American economy? Join us for a conversation with Joel Kotkin, one of the nation’s leading thinkers on urban development and the global economy, on the evolution and future of Cleveland and other Rust Belt cities.
