The focus on downtown ignores the fact most Londoners live somewhere else – the much maligned suburbs. The latest guru of urban development may be author Joel Kotkin, who states what’s obvious to everyone but traditional urban planners and politicians – people like to live in the suburbs. Governments should invest their money in the suburbs to make those areas more self-sufficient, he says.
