Columbia, MO and the Top Small Cities for Jobs

Columbia boasts low unemployment numbers, and in a recent Forbes report the city comes in third on the list of the Best Small Cities for Jobs in 2014. Joel Kotkin wrote the article which saw Columbia jump about 30 places over last year’s ranking. He says Columbia has been helped by steady job growth for many years.

“…pretty good growth between 2009 and 2013, and more importantly between 2002 and 2013, you had almost 19 percent job growth, so that’s pretty good,” says Kotkin.

He says Columbia and other “College Towns” need to be wary of a possible “higher education bubble” that some experts think may pop soon.
